I bought this book at the time when I had my first baby, so everything was new to me. When my daughter was ready for solids, I was at a loss. I know I didn't want to rely on jarred baby food, and was looking for a more natural and organic way to feed my growing child.
The Petit Appetit Cookbook not only provided simple recipes that every mother can prepare, it also categorizes them in age ranges, which might seem trivial, but was so helpful to Moms, including me, who constantly questions herself - "is this ok for my baby at such-and-such an age?" There's also nutrion facts next to each recipe, and indications on whether that recipe is egg-free, vegan, sugar-free, or wheat-free. I find that helpful as well.
Apart from the great recipes, the first part of the book provides an overview of baby nutrition in general - what's good for the baby, food safety, what foods to avoid, smart shopping, and special diets.
I highly recommend this book for the first-time Mom, and anyone else who is interested in making simple yet nutritious food for their babies.
