Sloat has many locations in San Francisco and Marin county. Number of plant choices depend on location but they generally carry native plants suitable for the local environment. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. It also offers free seminars that cover topics such as natural gardening utilizing beneficial bugs, composting, etc. Check their web site for date and location. You do have to call ahead to reserve space. It also carries eco friendly garden supplies such as E. B. Stone Organics line of fertilizer. Price can be a bit steep but you can be sure you are getting good advice and the right product.
