When my family was at the Ferry Plaza over the weekend, we had to stop at the Cowgirl Creamery Shop. I had heard a lot about their cheese. It did not disappoint. It was incredible how many different cheeses can fit into a small store front. Not only was there a selection of the Cowgirl's own cheeses - made from organic milk from Straus Farm, there was also a huge selection of artisan cheeses from Europe, hard and creamy. We bought the Cowgirl's St. Pat and Mt Tam and both were excellent. It was intriguing how they actually put nettle leaves into the rind of St. Pat's cheese and yet, no bitterness, just a fresh taste. We also tried some goat cheese from Toledo, Spain and it was great. We are definitely going to buy lots more the next time we visit the store front. Of course, there are also several different co-ops and independent stores that carry Cowgirl cheese but of course none of them have the large selection that the main store offers. Love the place and the cheese!
