Until my friend moved to San Ramon, I had never heard of Mudds, even though it had been there for ages and many consider it the precursor to Chez Panisse. However, after reading about it, we decided to try it and I loved it. The restaurant is hidden from the main road and has a very unique architectual style, with it's wave like roof and down to earth feel. The garden surrounds the restaurant and on a nice day, you can eat al fresco and enjoy the beautiful weather and food at the same time. In fact, there was a tour given in the open garden when we were there. The ingredients are sourced from local growers (and their own gardents) and the food was excellent. My hamburger was juicy and made with niman ranch beef, served with a side salad. I'd love to go there again and try dinner next time.
