1550 Hyde Cafe and Wine Bar
Bistro sourcing ingredients from local producers practicing sustaining farming and organic when possible 1550 Hyde Street
Your take
By reviewer shopper6387 2006-10-01 22:39:45This is an excellent restaurant with surprisingly affordable prices. The bistro atmosphere was cozy with probably no more than 20 tables. The daily menu stresses that ingredients are sourced from local producers practicing sustainable farming. The (James Ranch) lamb moussaka was excellent and great with the warm olives appetizer. The wine list was extensive even though there were only a few organic wines offered. I was too full for dessert even though I was very tempted by the Scharffenberger chocholate pot de creme and all the Straus Farm ice cream. Surprisingly, with wine, appetizer and entree, our bill only came to about $35/person, much lower than Id expect for a restaurant with its reputation. Report this review Your take
By reviewer cstudt 2006-11-29 08:52:12This bistro is a good find in the Russian Hill section of San Francisco. There is an extensive wine list, although, my one gripe is that none of the organic wines are served by the glass. Other than that minor dissappointment, the dining experience was excellent. There was a good variety of appetiser and entree choices, and all the ingredients seem to come from organic/sustainable farms-- Niman Ranch, Straus Farm, etc. The wait staff were quite knowledgeable on the ingredients origins. Best of all, the food is quite reasonably priced-- a three course dinner for two, with wine was only about $80-- a good value for The City. Also, they offer discount valet parking-- it is located in a lot about two blocks away, but again, reasonably priced. Report this review |
