No bottled water in a fancy restaurant? That’s right!

Continue with my obsession with the overwhelming and earth-debilitating bottled-water consumption. Chez Panisse apparently ditched their bottled water service a few months ago. Yes, they offer tap water, from East Bay Municipal Utility District. Now they took a step further and discounted serving fizzy water. They have their own carbonator to make bubbly water based on the need. When asked whether they were losing the high-margin revenue on the bottled water, the restaurant manager said that they gave many bottles to regular customers for free anyway. So it is a wash. One more reason to have dinner there, if only I lived closer and had 10x the income. Go Chez Paniesse! Hope the other enlightened restaurants follow suit soon.
